Configure the operation
Name your own positions, group people into teams and add locations within plan limits, so the calendar reflects how your service is organized.
For custom service teams
For shift-based service businesses that do not fit a named industry, such as an event crew or a mixed-service operation. Configure your own positions, teams and locations, review the plan privately, then publish a clear schedule your team can follow.
Managers and staff can choose their interface language in the web app and staff companion app. The choice is saved on that browser or device, not across your account.
English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian and Arabic.
Your team’s messages, documents and other user-written content stay in their original language. Interface language does not change currency, scheduling rules or permissions.
A practical fit
An event crew might create positions for setup, guest services and teardown. A mixed-service operation might group front-of-house and support roles into teams. Either way, managers collect availability, compare the week with configured staffing targets and review changes before publishing.
Name your own positions, group people into teams and add locations within plan limits, so the calendar reflects how your service is organized.
Build privately around availability and approved time off, check coverage against configured targets, then publish all workspace changes when the plan is ready.
Use tasks, recurring checklists, shared documents, announcements and messages to keep instructions with the team. Handovers remain your team’s own process.
Set up the roles and groupings your service actually uses.
Managers scan the week by the structure they already know.
Edits stay private until you publish all workspace changes.
Staff see the reviewed plan, not work in progress.
Recurring routines have visible assignments and completion records.
Responsibilities are easier to see for each shift.
Schedules are planned privately, reviewed, then published as a whole workspace. Sending published schedules by email is a separate step, and you can resend later.

Setup
Roles and groupings use your own names; multiple locations require the Salon plan.
The calendar reads the way your operation is organized.
Availability
Submitted availability and approved leave appear while you build; coverage gaps are shown against your targets.
Managers review gaps before deciding what to publish.
Instructions
Routines and reference material are assigned to a person, a position or the whole team.
Instructions stay with the people doing the work.
Communication
Updates are shared in the workspace, alongside the published schedule.
One place to check for current updates.
Interface language
Each person can choose one of 13 interface languages on their browser or device.
Messages and documents keep the language they were written in.
Yes. Set up staff, positions and business hours, collect availability, then build a private plan. Review changes before publishing all workspace changes. You can import staff and draft shifts from a spreadsheet or another scheduling tool’s export; start with a manageable period.
Staff can use the browser portal. Ask the manager for the approved companion-app install route if you prefer it. Requests and other tools depend on individual permissions; internet access is required.
No. Keep booking, specialist industry tools, accounting and payroll in their own systems. WorkShift supports staffing decisions, coordination and reviewed hours; it does not certify staffing sufficiency or run payroll.
Check configured staffing targets, then review all workspace changes before publication. Publication can queue change notices; monthly schedule-email resends are separate.

Staff self-service tools depend on per-person permissions; cover claims need manager approval. Owners and individually pay-approved managers can review pay reports. Time-clock records need review and do not process payroll. Solo and Studio support one location; Salon supports multiple locations. Email and optional opted-in text alerts require configured providers. Ask your manager for the current approved staff-app install route; public app-store availability is not confirmed.
